The work is done in the hobo nickel technique on the obverse of a 1977 U.S. dollar. Pneumatic tools and a set of hand cutters were used for engraving. The process of creating the bas-relief took three months of manual labor. The coin was subsequently nickel plated to give it an aesthetic appearance.
